John Keenaghan MIACP MA Counselling & Psychotherapy. Addiction Studies.

John is a fully qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and is an Accredited Member of the IACP (The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).  He graduated with a MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy and holds qualifications from the University of Limerick, Athlone Institute of Technology and The Irish Colleges of Humanities and Sciences (ICHAS). John has completed training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST),  Skills-Based Training on Risk management (STORM) and Children’s First Guidelines. He has also completed the Gatekeepers Course with GROW (World Community Mental Health Movement in Ireland).  John has also completed a Certificate Course in Mindfulness Meditation.

John takes a Holistic Person Centred Approach and believes in the uniqueness of each person and their abilities to work towards addressing their problems with the help of others. He believes in working with the whole person and appreciating the physical, emotional and spiritual elements of their lives. He also uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy when appropriate.

John works in The Ark Counselling Service providing support and counselling to Adults and Adolescents over a range of issues including Anxiety, Bereavement and Depression.  He also works with STOP  (Suicide Prevention Organisation) and with Staff-Care and Care-Call, Employee Assistance Providers.
